The Journey of Mo Slicks
The Journey of Mo Slicks
My drumming journey began at an early age. I was able to manipulate a full drum kit since I was 3 years old and started performing in front of audiences at just 4 years old in prestigious venues like the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall. Growing up playing in church, I started playing regularly every Sunday from the age of 9. It was here, in this sacred place of worship, that I developed my passion for rhythm and melody, learning to channel emotion and vulnerability into my music.
In 2003 and 2004, I performed at the Wandsworth Children’s Music Festival, which led to an invitation to attend the Royal College of Music’s Junior Department. For four years, I gained invaluable experience playing in orchestras and a jazz band conducted by the renowned UK saxophonist Mornington Lockett. After leaving the RCM, I pursued further training at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) from 2010 to 2012, earning both a Diploma and a Higher Diploma in Drum Performance. During my time at ACM, I seized every opportunity to collaborate with diverse musicians.
